Patrick Hernandez, a joyful and renowned dance director, embarked on his dance journey when he visited San Diego from NYC in 2008. It took just a weekend for Patrick to decide that San Diego was his new home, and three months later, he made the permanent move.
Fast forward to today, Patrick has become the director of one of San Diego’s largest dance companies. He offers public group lessons, training over 100 students from various backgrounds, transforming them into skilled performers and dancers. Patrick also hosts some of San Diego’s most vibrant dance socials for Salsa and Bachata, earning a reputation as one of the friendliest dancers in the community. His approachable demeanor and dance skills have led him to teach not only in San Diego but across the globe, including Japan.
Patrick’s passion for Salsa was born from the music that filled his childhood in Cali, Colombia—a city world-renowned for its Salsa culture. Here, the rhythm of Salsa was not just heard but lived, shaping his deep connection to the genre.
His passion is his life’s work, practiced daily to enhance both himself and his dance company. Patrick aims to expand the dance community, sharing his love for dance with as many people as possible. He shares this passion with his wife, Diana Trigo, a key member of the Melómano Dance Family. Together, they have three beautiful daughters: Luna, Maya, and Ren.
Patrick and Diana would be honored to join you on your dance journey. At Melómano, you’ll find a home where the friendly and welcoming atmosphere will keep you coming back for more. Stop by, say hello, and pick up a few dance moves along the way.
